…it always gets me through.
“My Olympic Moment” is a phrase I use that captures that moment during a race. As a runner, my resume consists of training runs, times, distances, topography, and other statistics. The moment I call “My Olympic Moment” is the euphoric “I’ve done it!” feeling. This can be while crossing the finish, although for me it’s always during the race. It’s overcoming a hurdle, a hill, or just a hellish moment during a race.
This moment used to be mile 2 of a 5k. As I’ve increased my mileage, I find that the moment doesn’t correlate with the splits, but rather the course, heat, water stops, spectators, and battling the thought that “this race may never end.”
My Olympic Moment is different during every race. but it always gets me through.
